Dell UltraSharp 2009WFP monitor

The time has come to retire my Hyundai ImageQuest Q910 and join the world of flat panel monitors! I ordered a Dell UltraSharp 2009WFP monitor yesterday while Dell are offering a 25% discount plus free delivery. The offer runs out on the 30th July so tomorrow is your last chance if your in the market for a new monitor. According to the very weird call I received this afternoon it should arrive tomorrow! It’s kind of a birthday present to myself. :)

I’ll post a mini review once it’s been used for a while. If anyone (in the North Wales area as it’s bloody heavy) wants my old monitor leave a comment.

I am considering buying this monitor and would be very interested in your thoughts. I’m pretty sure the screen has a matt finish (I hate the shiny screens that seem to be fashionable right now) - can you confirm this?

I hope you enjoy your new toy!

Not had much chance to properly test it yet. First impression when I turned it on was it’s so much brighter than my old CRT monitor!

I’m pretty sure it’s not got a matt finish to it, I assume you mean the finish that’s popular on laptops like the X-Black on Sony laptops?

The spec on the Dell web site says it has an anti-glare screen, which sounds good.

You are right about laptops and shiny screens. I do not know the technical term for it (if there is one), but they are easy to spot - when the screen is switched off, is the surface shiny like a mirror and reflects any light, or is it matt? This gloss finish is what has put me off buying a Samsung monitor, as they all seem to have this finish.

Sorry I misunderstood. The monitor does have a matt finish to it and NOT a glossy one.
